Oakmont Baptist Church is an exciting group of believers joined together by their
love of Jesus Christ and a desire to partner with God in the work He is doing
around us. In order to help carry out God’s mission of serving and sharing the
Good News with the world, we partner with several organizations.
Locally we are part of the South Roanoke Baptist Association. This association is
made up of 63 Baptist churches in a six county area reaching from Belhaven in the
east to Wilson in the west, and Tarboro in the north to Grifton in the south.
These churches work together in mission areas, meet ministry needs, and train
workers in the cooperating churches.
At the state level, Oakmont is part of the North Carolina Baptist State
Convention. We partner together with over 3,600 Baptist churches across the state
in a variety of mission and ministry endeavors. North Carolina Baptists support
Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, nine children’s homes, four retirement homes, 15
counseling centers (with a 16th one planned for the Greenville area), seven
colleges and universities, nine Baptist student centers on state supported
college campuses, and a state Baptist paper, the Biblical Recorder. A number of
Oakmont members have participated in overseas volunteer mission trips sponsored
through the North Carolina Baptist Men to places such as the Ukraine, South Africa,
Swaziland, India, Honduras, the Czech Republic and Germany. Oakmont has also been
involved with disaster relief through the North Carolina Baptist State Convention.
Nationally, Oakmont cooperates with the Southern Baptist Convention and the
Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. Mission work is accomplished both in the United
States and globally through these two groups. Sunday School curriculum and other
resources are used by Oakmont members from both the SBC and the CBF.
Who is Oakmont Baptist Church? We are a church who has connected together almost
1,800 people during our 35 year history - with Christ as the center! You are
