Spiritual formation for preschoolers and children takes place any time they are at church.
Being part of a loving faith community from their earliest years lays the foundations for faith as children. In church they learn that they are loved and cherished as individuals. They hear and learn the great Biblical stories of faith. They have the opportunity to interact with Christians of all ages and see how faith is lived out.
In reality, during those early years, more faith is "caught" than is "taught." It is with this conviction that we encourage our church families to go with their children to worship once they enter the 4-year-old Sunday School class. Children soak in much more than we can imagine as they worship with and interact with the faith community.
That reasoning is also why we strive to enlist teachers in the preschool and children's Sunday School classes that are present every Sunday. Any time an adult is with preschoolers and children in a church setting they are teaching those children something about being part of the family of God.
In addition to participating in worship services, spiritual formation for preschoolers and children also takes place in small group settings through Sunday morning Bible study classes, known as Sunday School, and in missions and music education on Wednesday nights. Jesus said, "let the little children come to me."
Our goal is that indeed the children of Oakmont will heed His call on their lives.
