Our Beliefs
-
- We believe in the Triune God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit)
- We believe Jesus was God in human flesh, that Jesus lived a life of perfect love for God and neighbor, took upon himself on the cross the sin of the world, and was raised from the dead as victor over sin and death. We follow Jesus as Savior and Lord, participating in his ongoing redemptive work in the world and pointing to his return when Jesus will make all things new.
- We trust the Bible as God’s Word.
- We affirm the priesthood of every believer.
- We celebrate the autonomy of each local church.
- We affirm the call by God on men and women to serve as pastors, deacons, and in all capacities in the life of the church.
- We affirm historical Baptist views and embrace an ecumenical spirit
What We Believe
Our core beliefs (listed in the tab below) anchor our life together in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. We pray that our practice of what we believe, through our love for God, each other, and our neighbors, will reflect the love Jesus has for all the world.
Our Core Values
-
Each Sunday morning we gather to worship God with praise and thanksgiving, prayer and confession, the giving of God’s tithes and our offerings, and by hearing and responding to God’s Word read and proclaimed. Once a month we celebrate Holy Communion, where all followers of Jesus are invited to join us at the Lord’s Table. From worship we depart to love our neighbors and serve the Lord each week in our community.
-
Through prayer we participate in God’s work in our hurting world, praying “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” For each other, our families, and our neighbors we pray, “Give us this day our daily bread.” In solitude and together in worship, we regularly practice stillness before God, listening as the Holy Spirit speaks to our hearts.
-
We believe God the Father is at work through God the Holy Spirit, forming us into the likeness of Jesus, God the Son. We believe spiritual growth is God’s gift, not a human achievement. Our part is to engage practices that open us to the Spirit’s work within us. And so through our praying, listening and study of God’s Word, our worship, work, witness, and fellowship, we trust God to make us more like Jesus.
-
We join all followers of Jesus as participants in Jesus’ redemptive work in the world. We seek to be a hub of ministry in our community as we know and walk with our neighbors, learn from them and encounter Jesus with them, invite others to follow Jesus with us, and share our resources with those who are in material need.
-
By God’s grace, we strive to listen to each other, support and care for one another, laugh and cry together, and be faithful sisters and brothers in Christ to one another.
-
We seek creative possibilities to share Jesus’ love that demonstrate openness to the Holy Spirit’s mysterious and surprising ways.
